Ty's Baptism

Wow. I am SO proud of this kid. I'm so proud of the choices he has made. I'm proud of his hard work and his testimony of the gospel. He was so excited for this day!

Uncle Kendall and Uncle Tony spoke on Baptism and the Holy Ghost. Aunt, Traci, Grandma Goddard, and I sang "A Child's Prayer". Ty wasn't feeling all that great, but it didn't stop him from the things he needed to do!

Congrats again Ty! We love you so much!!

Well here we are in good ole' Vegas!! We've been here for almost a month and seem to be settling down just fine.

Kregg's done with his training and is at his new store now. He is really enjoying it and the challenge that it brings.

We moved into an apartment that really isn't too bad. It has 2 pools with waterfalls and the kids have really enjoyed that. We don't really feel too cramped- we tried not to unpack too much. We figured an apartment would be great for us until we can really find out where we would like to be out here.

The ward is great- lots and lots of kids (It's so beautiful to hear other people's kids and not just mine going crazy in there). Kregg and I both have callings already- he's in the Elders Quorum Presidency and I'm on the Enrichment Committee. Ha ha!!! We are already making some friends, and our callings will help push that along even more we hope.

The kids are happy to be in school- the hardest thing about this move is that it's too hot to go to a park. And when you don't have any friends yet, you are kinda stuck at home. In your apartment. So they've played a lot of video games, and I've played a lot of Facebook. Ha!

I think this was a great move, and we really are liking it here. We miss Mesquite and especially all of our wonderful friends, but everything is great here. I'm excited!

First Day of School

So this past Monday was the first day of school. Ty's 2nd grade, Karson Kindergarten, and Mary pre-K. I would have to drive them to the bus stop anyway, so I decided to just drive them to school (except for Mary, they still drive her to and from our apartment). They are at a brand-spankin' new school which is pretty exciting! It's year round school which will be interesting, but I'm actually looking forward to it. There's not a whole lot you can do in the summer out here anyway. :)

I would love to say that Lucy and I have a few hours to ourselves, but that's not the case. Karson is in morning Kindergarten and Mary is in afternoon school. Ha!! It makes a little work for the soccer mom in the minivan.

All 3 are making friends and really adapting to their new lives here. I'm so proud of each of them- they seem to make good choices and they make friends so easy. Plus they try hard and (right now) like going to school. It seems like it is going to be a good school, and aside from me witnessing 2 moms duke it out in the school parking lot the other morning, it seems nice and safe.

Well my littlest little big girl turned 1 in July. Already!! Oh man- she's so adorable- and a daddy's girl. She really has been such a laid back little kid, content on watching what her crazy siblings are doing. She's usually smilin' and wrestling with her sister. She has absolutely NO desire to walk! But that's okay, we're in no hurry. Her birthday was kinda wild, considering that's the day that Kregg got his crazy new job. It will be a birthday none of us will ever forget!!

I know you all must be HATING me SO much about now with my constant flaking of keeping my blog updated. I have a bunch of trips and Lucy's birthday to show you- so I'll try to get to those. But I wanted to update you on our latest...

As you know- Kregg got laid off the end of June. And as much as we have really loved having him around (I'm not even being sarcastic for once!! :)) we thought it might be a good idea if he got another job.

And miraculously- HE DID!! I am now married to the manager of Toys R Us/ Babies R Us. We are going to be moving to Las Vegas and he starts in a week.

This job is such a blessing!! We only missed a couple paychecks (VERY lucky) and he will be getting a pretty hefty raise. We are REALLY going to miss it here in Mesquite- we've loved every minute of it!! I'm a little nervous about living in Las Vegas and to get my kids in the right schools and stuff, but I know that's where we need to be. Thanks to all of you for all of your thoughts and prayers- we are TRULY grateful for you. And I'm SO grateful that I have a wonderful husband who supports us and is good at what he does. I really can't imagine my life without him!!

Mary's Last Day of School

For her last day they got to go to the splashpark. So fun!! She's had such a fun time in preschool, and she's learned so much. She's made such great friends, and her teachers were WONDERFUL!! I sure hope that whatever the future holds includes another great program just like this one.

Her best buddies Camilla and Kairi. Camilla was a little sad and was crying to her mom and dad. So Mary goes right up to her, grabs her hand, and says, "Come on!! Let's go on the slide!!". They both were grinning from ear to ear the rest of the day. I sure hope Mary always keeps her spunk and her smile!

So out here in the desert we have been very fortunate to have a Ward garden. It's SO AWESOME!! My backyard is straight rock, and I can't ever make anything grow (not to mention keep alive), so it's been great to get ideas and help from other people. I always said that if we grew just one vegetable out of it, then it would be worth it. We have had TONS of radishes, peas and cherry tomatoes, and a PLETHERA (for you "3 Amigos" Fans) of carrots. We also have lots of green onions and green peppers. We also have zucchini and cucumbers! I'm still in shock that anything has grown. The kids have just loved it (in fact most of the peas never made it home). Something we'll definitely have to try to do from now on.

So it looks like Kregg's days at Radio Shack are coming to an end. It's been a wonderful run, it's just not enough people buying!! So now we are in the process of looking for a new job. If everyone can keep their eyes open... we are really liking it here in Mesquite, but there just aren't many jobs here. So it looks like there is another move in the works for us! The real question is... Where will it be?? Anyway- other than that little stress we are all doing good. Everyone is out of school now, and we're looking forward to a nice family vacation soon. Everyone have a fun summer!!

Yep- I ran a 5K...

So the last time I ran a race was probably when I was in college (At least 12 years ago). I was so excited to run one again! They had a nice little one here in Mesquite, so a bunch of us went. It was a lot of fun! My buddy Kena and I actually won out of the women. I wish I could have enjoyed it, but I don't even remember the last 1/2 mile of the race! Then I spent the next half hour trying not to puke. Good times!! If anyone knows one thing about me- it's that I'm pretty darn competitive. It's a gift and a curse.

One of my best friends Johanna and her family came out to visit last weekend. I miss her so much- it was so great to see her and her cute-as-heck family. We have been friends since she moved into the neighborhood in 1st grade. Man we've had some great times, and gotten into TONS of trouble together (just a few examples: breaking into houses, breaking apple trees, chopping down illegal Christmas trees, a whole crap-load of toilet-papering and steeling barracades). She's also stood by me through all of the tough times and helped me make it through (aka college... wow we were crazy, eh roomie?). I'm so glad that we have been able to stay so close through the years!! Thanks for visitin' Joe! Love yah!!

Kregg is 33 now- and as handsome as ever!

His birthday was pretty uneventful, really. The only excitement was the "Better-than-you-know-what" cake I made, that Mary decided to break in half and put on the floor. So this is as close-up of the cake as you are going to get!! I'm not sure I'm cut out to make cakes- this was the 3rd catastrophe with them that I've had in a row!! But of course- we still ate it (you know me)- and OH YEAH it was so good!!

So Lucy is 8 months old today. She is such a great baby!! She hardly cries and smiles a whole lot. She LOVES her big brothers and has even been known to crack a smile at Mary every once in a while (when Mary's not on top of her). She had RSV a few weeks ago and that wasn't so fun, but she still was smilin' away and didn't seem miserable at all. What a great kid!

Wazzup?!?!

So I'm sorry I'm not blogging as much these days- just not a whole lot of excitement going on! Oh wait- I had about 30 seconds of excitement last week, so I guess I'll share that with you.

So I'm at the drive-thru of a (usually very good) fast food restaurant. The nice lady hands me my drinks in a drink holder, and I sign my card slip. So then I look over, and there is a cockroach running around in my drink holder!!!! So I immediately bolt out of my car and say, "Holy crap, holy crap, holy crap (add a few more times)," go around to the passenger side of my van, somehow get it out of my van (cuz I definitely can't leave it in there!), and kill it a couple dozen times. Now you must know that there are cockroaches in Mesquite. But right now is not cockroach season. And I do realize that with as many cockroaches that are around here, that of course they probably are at most of the eating establishments around here. But they are usually dead! And I definitely don't want to see one with my food!!!! And there usually is not just one. EW!!

Anyway- after I got done doing my "cockroach-killing dance", as it has now come to be known by, the poor lady at the window was like, "Are you okay?!?!" I said that I was, and what I killed that came on the drink holder, and told her that she probably better keep an eye out!

Needless to say when I was eating my lunch (I wanted that chicken sandwich REALLY bad), that every bite I took I was just hoping was chicken. And when I was drinking my drink I thought to myself, "That better be ice I just swallowed"!!!

Anyway- have a good week.

Karson's 5!

It's hard to believe that Karson is 5. Short, but 5!! It seems like just yesterday he was this little baby! He really is a good kid- always willing to help, and always wanting to learn new things. Unlike when he was a baby (the Clemens' scowl has lightened up quite a bit), he's always smiling and makes everyone smile around him. We love the little songs that he makes up, and people love to hear him to talks in church just so they can hear him talk. We love you buddy!

Musical chairs was a BLAST! A little scary at times, but they've asked my every day since if they could play.

10 Years! Can you believe it??

So last Friday Kregg and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary, or if you go by our marriage license, it was last Wednesday. Well at any rate- we have had 10 wonderful years of married life together. I really cannot imagine my life without Kregg. We have the same goals, the same dreams, and he really brings out the best in me. He is a WONDERFUL father and his family is his top priority. He works all day, then comes home and manages to play with the kids and treat me like a queen at the same time (and he really does treat me like a queen). He even manages to make me laugh every once in a while. I'm not quite sure what I did to deserve such a great life with such a great great guy, but I'll take it!

We had a nice laid back Christmas. We stayed in our pj's all day, opened presents, played games, and watched movies. I usually like the craziness of seeing family, but it was kinda nice just to relax. Karson gave us that ornament for Christmas. Hilarious.

Karson got this from his Sunbeam teacher- he was SO excited! So I had to get him a carrier and everything. He pretty much takes it everywhere with him.

Gingerbread House Party

So I was having a gingerbread party for all the little ones while the older ones were in school, and then they cancelled school because of the snow we never had. Anyway- so instead of trying to fit everyone in my house I booked the church and we had it over there. It was a blast!

Mary wouldn't let me even THINK about touching her plate in any way. She never got more than a drop of frosting. She was just happy to have the graham crackers and the candy.

Mary's first day of preschool

So Mary is now in preschool!! She was a little unsure about it at first (she actually clinged to me- can you believe that??), but it didn't take long- she loves it! There are 5 kids in her class including 2 that are deaf and one in a wheelchair. They all take her under her wing (that's a talent she has), and she wears her backback everywhere. Last week she got to wear her pj's and listen to the principal read "The Polar Express", drink hot chocolate, eat chocolate candies, and make a candy train. When we had our snow day she missed the last day of school before Christmas, and her teacher actually came all the way out here to deliver her present. She goes 4 days a week, and will be taking the bus. They even pick her up right from my house!! It's been great!

So how wild is this??? All the kidlets are out of school today because of the snow, and the storm skipped right over us. We got rain, but we have a snow day and no snow! For those of you who really know me know that I LOVE the snow. Bummer.

Also today I'm throwing a little gingerbread house making party (like we did in the old days- eh Ridgecrest??) and now instead of 12 kids at my house there will be 32. Not sure how I'm gonna work that one out!!

Last night I was a bell ringer!

So have any of you ever wanted to be one of the joe-cool Salvation Army bell ringers that hang out in front of the stores this time of year? I always have wanted to do that, and last night I finally got to with they Young Women. Even though it was probably the longest 2 hours of my life, and my toes were numb, I loved it!! I was kickin' myself that I didn't take my camera. I had about 5 girls with me at the local Smith's. And people are so kind! One guy put in a $20 bill, and I really think that we had more bills than change. But this is the part that made it totally worth-it...

A older homeless guy came up with all of his belongings in his shopping cart and put a handful of bills in the bucket. Then he went over to the other entrance and did the same. The girls of course were all over the place dancing and talking and havin' a great time (right ladies??), and when this guy did that they just froze. Their jaws dropped.

That is the kind of thing that you hope that you see when you are out on a service project with a bunch of youngins'. I think that is something that will touch them, at least I hope so, because it certainly did me. This time of year is so crazy... and this old homeless man really made me stop and think about really where our priorities should be.

I'm sure that guy has no idea what he did for me and possibly my girls. He was probably thinking about the other people he would be helping with that money he put in the bucket. But he really brought out the spirit in me, and faith in mankind. He made my Christmas!!

So we hung out at home this year, and my great aunt and uncle came out to have a nice dinner with us. Mary was havin' a great time.

This was a pilgrim hat- thanks for the idea Kena! My kids loved it... although they ate them before dinner instead of after. And sorry it's so out of focus- I'm feelin' pretty lazy today.

Here was our table... nothing spectacular... but it was a pretty big deal around here. Real plates!

My husband loves the rotisserie and so we did the ham in it this year. Mmmmm... So good.... We had a turkey, too, that turned out really well. Lots of leftovers! Oh- and I never thought anyone could ever mess up Stovetop Stuffing... well now I know. I remember thinkin' to myself, "Measure the water?? No big deal!" So we had Stuffing Soup. I wouldn't recommend it.

All and all we had a great relaxing day. We missed our families, but we're glad Thel and Jewel could come out and share it with us!

Mary turned 3!!

So my little girl turned 3 last Friday. So we got all of her little friends and their moms together and went to McDonald's for lunch. Of course all day she had to wear her princess dress. She cracks me up. And I know, I know... she loves to show everyone what is in her mouth, just like her mom does.

While Mary was opening the presents, Ben thought it would be a great time to finish everyone's cupcakes and lunches. He really had me crackin' up.

I know ladies... I'm gonna get yelled at for putting pics of them up, but y'all look great!!!

And Lucy just loves Kena- she sat with her pretty much the whole time.

This is my little buddy Dagan. Isn't he just the cutest little man?? Him and Mary have a blast together.

And Lincoln had a really great time with his cupcake. I love red and pink cupcakes- they make the best pictures.

Thanks everyone who came to celebrate with us!! We loved it!!

Also- since we are on the subject of Mary- I thought maybe this would be a good time for an update.

The biggest thing that we are working on right now is getting her into a preschool through the County. She's already been accepted (which you usually get accepted into everything if you have a genetic disorder I've come to discover), but it was a CRAZY road to get there. Mary and I had to spend 2 1/2 hours with a school psychologist, then another appointment with a school nurse, then another 2 appointments with a speach therapist. They ask you a lot of questions (probably around 25 pages worth) like, "Can your kid stand on her tippy toes and take 2 steps?" Or "How does she hold her fork?" and lots of other things that you don't really think about. And you walk away feeling like a pretty crappy parent. Then they ask her to say a lot of things and do a lot of things. And all of you who have had a 2-3 year old know that they will only do things that they want to do. Anyway- they told me that she has quite a few "delays" that they don't think has anything to do with her Syndrome. I will find out more about that next week when I get to have a meeting with about 10 other people telling me what my daughter needs and what she is lacking. But anyway... she should be starting school shortly after that. A bus will come and pick her up at my house and bring her home. It is 4 days a week, so that will be weird!! Me and Lucy will get a little R&R together I hope!!

Also- we have found out last week that our insurance will not cover any of Mary's pre-existing stuff for a year at least. That has really hit me kinda hard, but we are getting through it. We are going to apply for Medicaid and hopefully that will help out. We have to get her echo done soon, and get the cyst in her brain checked out. Plus she is supposed to be on growth hormones by now. So it's a little stressful around here- but we'll get through it! We always do!

Mary is such a sweet little spitfire who seems to bring a sweet spirit with her everywhere she goes. People (adults and kids alike) seem to flock to her all the time. People I don't even know are always calling her by name, and she has a few boys (other than her brothers) that are constantly protecting her and fighting over her. We are so blessed that she is a part of her family- and I wouldn't trade these experiences for anything!! I can't believe she's 3 already! We love you Mary!

Karson's Vogue...
Last week they brought out the 1000 flags that they do every year. On my way over I lectured the kids about why we have flags and how they have a certain reverence to them, and how to act. They let us run through them last year, but this year we got a good talkin' to because that wasn't reverent. While Mary was going past a flag, it was windy, and it hit her in the face. An older guy volunteer gave her a good talking to on not touching the flags. Ty went up to a flag, grabbed onto the pole, saluted it, and started singing the Presidential March. It was HILARIOUS!! And of course right after that an old volunteer lady went up to him and lectured him about how you should treat flags like you should treat a church. I thought that was actually very patriotic of him. It's hard living in a town full of old people.

So a bunch of our friends from SLC came down to run a 1/2 marathon and 5K this weekend. I was supposed to run it with them- but idiotic me forgot to sign up until it was too late (I'm still kicking myself over it). We did make it up to see them run though (barely- we got a flat tire and had to use our friends car- thanks Michelle and Dave!!). Anyway- we had a great time and they did SO AWESOME!!!! It was so great to see you guys!

Isn't he the most handsome scarecrow?? I totally fell for this costume!!

Halloween is also Nevada Day out here, so they never have school on the 31st. So the day before they got to wear orange and black to school. They were so excited to have orange hair!

Ty was a Spiderman- not his first choice, but he was still excited. He ended up not wearing that mask for very long- he couldn't breathe. Mary was furious that I made her wear tights and a shirt underneath her pretty princess dress. A morality issue already??? I thought I had a few more years at least!! Anyway- she really put up a fight. It was like a 45 minute fight. She really tried to get that shirt off!

Lucy was Tinkerbell- my friend Michelle bought her this when she was born. It's a 6 month costume, and she's 3 1/2 months. Last week when I tried it on her I told her that she couldn't gain ANY weight until after Halloween! We barely made it!! :) I have such a cute little chunk!!

Of course once Mary finally got out of the car and figured out that there was candy involved- she was totally over the shirt and tights thing. And of course all she had to do was turn on her charm and she was getting 3 or 4 pieces of candy at every house.

Ty is 7!

I can't believe I have a 7 year old. He is such a great kid, though! We enjoy him so much- and can't believe how good he has turned out. He is a hard worker, loves school, is one of the best readers in his class, helps out at home, and actually likes playing with his siblings. He has some great friends, and just got a record in his school for the 50 yard dash. He has also brought 2 girls home this week and he genuinely thinks that they are coming over because they like Star Wars. I can't believe it's all starting already!! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

Anyway- we love you Ty!

This is his obsession- Star Wars. He actually begged and begged until I would take a pic of his Darth Maul that his auntie Traci gave him for his birthday.

Kregg decorated his cake. It's a good thing that it's Halloween time, because it's actually hard to find black food coloring!

For his birthday party, we invited 8 of his friends and their families and rented a park. We had BBQ sandwiches, chips, and drinks. They had so much fun!! And I barely even had to plan anything! I just forgot that it gets dark by 6... so sorry that my pics are a little dark. When does time change, anyway?

Our Murder-Mystery Dinner!

So every year my cousins on my moms side all get together for a Halloween party (It's awesome!! No parents and no kids, other than babies). This year my cousin Brooke decided to throw a murder mystery party. Oh man- SO FUN!!!!!! It was an 80's reunion. I was (big surprise) the class flirt, and Kregg was the most successful director in Hollywood. I was his girlfriend, but of course I was having an affair with the class president, and flirting with everybody else. Kregg also was the one that was killed. How cool is that?? And it was my sister that killed him.

This guy (the school jock) was totally obsessed with me. I spent most of the night trying to get away from him. Great acting Chad!! Hope I didn't knock you out too hard.

Brooke was the one who threw the party and she watched from the sidelines. You did a great job Brooke, and thanks for dinner!

Brock was the school punk and Tonya was the hall moniter turned cop. She was hilarious giving everyone citations.

Here's my sister, the actress, who earned an emmy. She ended up killing Kregg because he knew about her past in a few porn movies.

Notice something different about Ty? He finally lost his first tooth. He was getting a little frustrated considering he turns 7 in a few days- so it happened just in the nick of time!!
Man you would have thought it was Christmas- the kid was so excited! The next morning I had to wake him up. I asked him if the tooth fairy came, and he said yeah- she brought him a dollar (what is the going rate nowadays?!?!?! We got a quarter when we were kids. I figured with inflation and all...) anyway- and he tried to tell dad in the middle of the night, but he wouldn't wake up. Of course Kregg doesn't remember anything. But it was really fun for us (it was a first for us, too). We both snuck into his room after he was asleep and I was the lookout. Kregg was so careful creeping under the pillow and we both bolted out of there like we were a couple kids stealing a 10 cent candy from the candy store. So fun!!

Of course when we were taking his pic, the other 2 wanted one so here it is. They look a little spazzy, but what do yah do??

Lucy is going to 6 weeks tomorrow so I thought I share how big she is getting. She is still sleeping really good-from about 9:30 to about 5am. She's awake more during the day so we get to see those beautiful eyes! We have loved having a baby around... and I know what they mean when they say that after 3 kids it really doesn't matter a whole lot. I feel a lot less overwhelmed than I did with the others. Maybe it is all of the extra helping hands (although I have to pry those hands off of her way more than I want to!). PS- pay no attention to those legs that really shouldn't be that white considering where we live...

1st Day of 1st Grade!

So Ty started 1st grade on Monday- I can't believe I have a 1st grader! Anyway- I think he is really going to like it this year. Everything comes so naturally to Ty- and I'm looking forward to him learning new things. I'll get to go and help out in his class once a week, so that should be fun. He's such a good kid- I'm so proud of him!
